"It's Groundhog Day!"

The official celebration of Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney encompasses three days. So it is only fitting that the celebration of this special holiday on the Pacific Princess was communicated on three days.

On Monday, January 31, Sara accidentally stumbled on the unknown location of Pacific Princess' Wake Show, the onboard program that lets everyone know what is happening on that day. During a break in the filming, she reminded Brett, our cruise director, that he had promised that Punxsutawney Phil would be featured on February 2. He and Frankie, our deputy cruise director, promptly invited her to make the announcement about a special, super-secret guest on the Wake Show on Groundhog Day.

On February 2, Phil was delivered, along with a poster with a heart that read "Pacific Princess + Punxsy Phil," to the two hosts of the Wake Show. After having tons of fun with Phil, the hand puppet, they invited Sara on the show to tell about how she was named a Groundhog Ambassador, a designation given to Punxsutawney residents who have moved away from the Groundhog capital but still continue to promote the Groundhog in their new cities of residence.

On February 3, the hosts of the Wake Show had more fun giving the prediction that Phil made. Frankie has a wonderful voice for Punxsutawney as he stated:

"After casting an inquisitive eye towards thousands of my faithful followers, I proclaim that the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl (and will win)!

I surveyed my surroundings carefully and found there was no shadow around, so, an early spring it will be!"

Punxsutawney Phil is a big star on this ship in our small (but ever expanding) corner of the world!
